Pego - a place close to the heart that tells stories with light
There are places that go straight to the heart. For me, such a place is Pego – a small Valencian town located between the mountains and the sea, smelling of oranges and hospitality. It was here, in an intimate hotel run by Agnes and Robert, that our first photographic workshops took place. It was there that friendships were formed, ideas were born and a beautiful story began, which continues to this day.
Pego isn’t just the views and the light perfect for photography. It’s the people. It’s a daily life full of cordiality. It’s a place where the distance between man and man is measured by extending a hand and a look in the eye.
It was here that I was able to create the exhibition “Women of Pego” – a project about ten exceptional women who shared their stories, passions and everyday life with me. Women who act with courage and sensitivity, creating a community based on mutual support, respect and strength. It is thanks to them – and to the openness of the Dones Cabal association and the municipality – that, as a Polish immigrant, I was able to feel part of the local social fabric.
Now, it is with great joy that I invite you to an exhibition of photographs of these amazing women – on June 7 at Casa de Cultura in Pego. Let it be an encounter with authenticity, emotion and inspiration.
And if you want not only to watch, but also to create – we are back with another photography workshop for all those who hold photography dear. The workshop will be held in June in the same welcoming space of Agnieszka and Robert’s hotel. This time we will immerse ourselves in the extraordinary world of the Moros y Cristianos festival – one of the most spectacular fiestas in Spain. We will document the preparations for this magical week: costumes, emotions, rehearsals and the grand finale on the streets of the town – with music, lights and pride.
It will be a time of photography, intimacy, feminine energy, laughter, creative work and delight in the world. With yoga at sunrise, wine at sunset and cordiality throughout the day.
